Wearne 2008 Motto - "Got Teeth?"

My kids are going to be the poster children for the National Dental Association if they keep going at this rate.

Tonight, in an effort not to be outdone by her little brother; Ariel decided that her loose tooth was coming out! Unlike her brother she didn't require any help with the extraction - in fact, I was quite surprised when she informed me what she had done because I checked her tooth earlier tonight and thought it would be another day or two until it would be ready to come out.
I hope the Tooth Fairy gets frequent flier miles for all of her trips out here to the North Woods.

I guess this is just my family's way of getting me prepared for my upcoming trip down south - Lots of nice people - With a lot less teeth! My very own Hillbilly Deluxe Family!

At least the kids don't know about the rising/falling value of the U.S. dollar so the tooth fairy can rest easy not having to worry about paying them in foreign currency. The good ol' American Dollar is gladly accepted when it comes to my kids!

A day of rest?

Today is Sunday - the Western observed "day of rest" but with no Nascar races since November and no Football due to it being the week off before the SuperBowl, I am going out of my mind! So until the SuperBowl next week I will do my best to stay sane and Oh ya.... GO PATRIOTS /19-0!!!!!

Here are a couple pictures of Gillette Stadium I took during our Bass Pro Shop outing yesterday- it was nice to be so close to the stadium without the normal frustration of game day traffic!

Bye, bye Martin Truex.....

I know most of my regular readers will have no idea the meaning to the Title of this post but as always I will do my best to bring you up to speed.

As everyone knows I have become quite the Nascar buff and last year they had a contest during which the winner would get a call from their favorite driver and one of the best commercials on the radio for the contest was a little girl (probably 3-4 years old) who answered her daddy's cell phone when it rang. Well it turns out it was the winning call from Martin Truex Jr. and while the daddy was trying to get the phone from her the little girl says in the sweetest voice - "Bye, bye Martin Truex".

Now what does that have to do with me? Well Martin Truex Jr. is sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and it just so happens that we now have our very own shopping paradise in New England.
I was able to spend the afternoon with the family and we decided to take a trip out to the Boston area. I showed the kids where my office in Boston was which may not seem that exciting but at least they have an idea of where I go when I say I'm going to the office rather than working from my home location.

We had a great afternoon and evening together and enjoyed checking out the new store. As usual I was totally unprepared and failed to bring my camera with me. Thankfully I had my cell phone which takes so-so pictures and now I have an excuse to drag the family out to the store again in the near future!
The kids had a great time checking out the fish and turtles in the natural aquarium as well as the traditional style aquarium tank. Ariel had a bowfin that seemed to take a fancy to her and followed her wherever she moved along the glass and Alex was quite impressed with his buddy, a rather hefty carp! It was quite exciting bonus for us when feeding time occurred while we were all gazing through the glass! They both were able to get a souvenir penny from the crank press which had several different designs and each took a turn at the automated shooting range.

Who are you voting for in 2008?

The way things are going I may just exercise my "write in" option this year. Let me know what you think - I think "Uncle Ted" in 2008 sounds like a plan! The only thing that would make this better is if Ted had Chuck Norris as his Vice President - If Chuck was in his pocket it would truly be a Concealed Weapon! Sorry for the poor quality video I received it via e-mail. I look forward to your comments on this one!

Gone Sledding.

The kids had the day off from school today due to another snow storm so when I was done with work I took them to the local High School where we had noticed a large hill last year. The kids were very excited and a bit nervous when they saw how large and steep the hill was while standing at the edge! Any fear they had quickly faded as they went screaming (both physical speed and vocally) down their first time. I forgot to bring the camera with me so I used my cell phone - sorry for the poor quality but I figured poor quality pictures is better than no pictures.
I went down on a saucer sled (just think National Lampoons Christmas) and momentarily though I broke my leg after flying approx 10 feet upon crashing into a ditch at the bottom of the hill! Thankfully I was fine and the fun continued without interruption. I was impressed that the kids were able to climb the hill repeatedly (approx 20 times) before agreeing that we were ready to go home. Next time we have to bring Mommy with us so she can join us in our snowy fun!

Oh how time flies....

I was looking at our old picture albums I have saved on our desktop computer tonight and I came across some pictures of Ariel when she was going through her tooth loss stage that Alex just went through. I realized that I haven't posted much about my precious little daughter so I thought I would take the opportunity now before she gets any older and complains that I am embarrassing her! In case you were wondering the first one was taken on 10/20/04 and the second was taken on 10/24/04. I guess if the Tooth fairy could afford it back in 2004 she is more that capable of affording it now in 2008!

Fun in the Snow

Today the January Thaw began. As the snow was melting I was going through the pictures in my camera and I found these pictures that I took of the kids Christmas Sunday as they played in the backyard snow. The last one is not a mistake it is the picture that was taken as the boys came down the hill much faster than I expected and I pressed the shutter button as I was jumping out of their way!

1 - 2 - 3 Your Out!

At this rate the tooth fairy is going to go bankrupt and Alex is going to be stuck eating baby food. Yup, Alex has lost another front tooth! I was lying on the floor tonight and during our nightly tickle fest Alex yelled at me for making his tooth scrape against the couch. When I asked to see it he informed me "it was NOT ready to come out" yet and stuck his finger in his mouth because his "hole" felt funny. Once I accepted the fact he wasn't going to let me touch his last loose front tooth the tickling of the boy resumed. It was then that I noticed his Hillbilly smile and asked him where his tooth was! We found it a short time later next to the couch that "scratched it" earlier. All I can say is I hope the Tooth Fairy is rich because the rate Alex is going there isn't going to be any cash left for all the other little boys and girls!

AND THEN IT WAS 2008...HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Sorry for the lack of post's the last week, I have been sick since Christmas weekend and work has been quite demanding during the holiday season. Despite all of that we had a great Christmas Season here.
We spent Christmas Eve at my mother and Rogers house and enjoyed a great dinner (corned beef with all the fixin's) and despite getting called in to work Christmas morning was special as we exchanged gifts at home with the kids. Later that day we enjoyed another great meal (Turkey and Pork with even more great fixin's) at Mom and Dad Rathbun's.
2007 is over and a new year is upon us, my wish and prayer is that all who read this will have a great New Year full of love, good health, and prosperity. God bless you and the new year of 2008.
